Gosh, some of the Cym newbies are clueless about Cymbidium viruses. Some may even be dishonest. Lauris Rose told me about buyers at the recent SB Show claiming they had bought virused Cyms. I am a trained Virologist so l walked the nursery this afternoon. After close inspection, l found five (5) plants that l would test!
As clean a nursery as one could find!! I also know what Orchid Fleck Virus looks like. I found none at Cal-Orchid….

I’m finding something a little weird….. why would someone buy a Cym in person if it had worrying leaf marking??? OK, many people buy online from reputable vendors but in person, only a real dummy would select a virused-appearing plant. Apart from someone who has a deep wallet and can virus test every purchase, why test an apparently clean plant? And while we, of course, tested every selection before we cloned it, we no longer offer clones to hobbyists so our test strip costs are significantly reduced!
