John Charnley 'Hipster' 4n
The man who kept me mobile, the wonderful MD who invented the artificial hip! A fittingly fine orchid named in his memory.

I am taking quite a liking for this orchid. Lovely matching colour combination and a touch of quality about this flower

Brian, I'm not sure where to go with this one... Our standards are so well-developed already. May just clone it for a specialty market.

So your original cross was with 2N parents?

Not at all! Eternal Flame was 4n and better color than this one and the other parent, Kirby Lesh was also tetraploid and more of a pink but large and well-shaped.

Left field question on ploidy, is the ploidy determined from plant/flower characteristics or from nuclear DNA testing?
