Welcome to all Cymbidium and Odontoglossum Alliance folk.

Post by MrCym »

We are up and running, lots of new stuff to post on the only serious knowledge source online for these two major groups of orchids. You will need to re-apply to join and that gives us a good chance to update our active list. If you are a member and don't post for six months or more, we will presume you are no longer interested and your log-in capability will be terminated.

We intend to get a second commercial growers sub-forum underway which can only be accessed by a second password. It will be a wide-ranging discussion but restricted to commercial orchid growers with proven track record in any aspect of the orchid business. Apologies in advance for enthusiasts who will be limited to the main forum, but you will still have a wonderful information resource.

We are not sure we will ever be able to regain material on the former hosting site but if we are successful, it will be restored.

Welcome!

What actually happened to make the site require access to the ADF.LY page?

Here I was faced with a desire to access the forum pages but going in via an unknown source made me back off, even googling the page did not convince me to access it.

So here I was stuck in no man's land without access to one of my regularly visited sites. Bummer!

Things are moving fast and I will be home soon, home to pick up some new releases that Helen Jackson is holding for me.

Yahoo!

I might even be able to travel via South Australia and see if Graham Guest is open by invitation. Graham?

I hope it's recoverable. There a lot of valuable stuff there. ;)
Anyway, good to know the Forum is back online.

Well I didn't realise I would miss you so much Andy. When the old Forum went down withdrawal symptoms set in quite quickly then, as time went by, other thoughts went through my mind.....too horrible to mention.. :( .....but I am so pleased that you are back :D

Ref the second Forum if it means that all/most of the non hobbyists post there (and not here) then us hobbyists will lose a great deal of info, insight and knowledge. :(

Interesting to see the welcome to "Odontoglossum Alliance" folk, which is really what I was looking for in the forum, but never see any threads about Odonts.
Even the Forum purpose is for "Cymbidium and Odontoglossum Alliance hybrids".
Finding any decent plants in the UK is getting ever more difficult - even with proximity to the EU.

Am I the sole interested party out here (in the UK) or is the forum really about Cymbidiums?

VD, just picked up your post, Graham's nursery is closed at all times as for that matter is mine! But I always will try and accommodate friends who call ahead and wish to visit, but sometimes with travel commitments etc, a visit may not be possible.

Richard, I do not post mush in the Odont Alliance because so few members are interested. However, we still post at least as much as any other readily reached Forum and certainly as much as majors like the OSF for example. And we will stick closely to factual information unlike some of the weak waffle found elsewhere!
