Changes to the forum security

Dear users,

The forum has changed it's security model to being 100% open to the public in terms of posting and reading. We will actively monitor the forum for a period of 2 weeks to determine the viability of such a model. The success of this model is dependent on the number of spam/scam posts we receive, and the ability of the forum admins and owners to deal with such posts in a timely and effective manner. Following this trial period we will make a call to determine if this is a sustainable approach going forward.

If you see any scam/spam posts, please let us know by reporting them.

Regards

Tony

Thanks Tony, now I know why I could not post yesterday when I thought I was logged in - but wasn't. I saw the question one had to answer as part of that process. I assume one has to log in every time now or maybe every new day instead of being logged in automatically?

No it should still remember your logon. Let me know if it doesn’t.

Thanks for the reply Tony, well I waited for an hour since the previous posts, then I had to log in again - I am sure that is different to what was happening before. There must be some time that elapses before you need to log in again it seems.

Tony, what is the best way to report any suspicious activity here on the forum?

Hi Gary, please make sure you tick the “Remember me” box when logging on. I’ve been logged on for 8 hours straight now and it hasn’t disconnected me.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Gary, there is an email icon at the bottom of the page. Please use that and include the link to the post.

Thanks for the replies Tony, all clear on the email icon now. I was talking about once you log off, there seems to be a time delay to when you next connect to the forum whether you have to logon on again, or it remembers your previous logon.

Why not use the "!" button (the report button) next to the quote button on the forum post? Surely that goes to the forum admins directly?

You would normally think so but it doesn’t appear to work and I haven’t had time to work it out.
