Cym(Canal Parish X Golden Elf) 'La Union'
Don't know what happened here. Lasts for weeks and it should be 3n but have just harvested a pod full of seed at nine months so it could be a chance 4n.

Lovely canaliculatum influence in this one, my type of Cym.

Very impressive - hopefully it ends up being a chance tetraploid. Did you treat any of the flasks hoping to bloom out some 6n’s.

No, the pod went ten days ago and we have a surfeit of 6n's already! I see no significantly slowness in the growth speed of the 6n's when compared to the 4n's but I just need to bloom their first offspring and gauge the phenotype in various critical areas. Exciting times however!

Very nice canaliculatum hybrid. The fact that it produced a full pod suggests an even ploidy, but given the cross was (2n x 4n) you could really end up with any of 2n, 4n or 6n. I'm guessing the fact that you're leaning towards 4n indicates that the plant has more substance than a regular diploid but not as much as the known 6ns that you have.

Correct though it was the only one I attempted to hybridize with!
