Re: Trivia
Gary, correct regarding processing - but it doesn't answer the drilling aspect.

Re: Trivia
Mosher had the Midas touch. He had a hunch there was a significant oil deposit in a shelf off the coast - this was a time when there were no ocean oil rigs. So he tried the whiplash drilling method, bending the drill from land so that it tapped into the the ocean deposit. His wife at the time stated "another of my wonderful babies". Information sourced from Fortune Magazine.

Re: Trivia
Another bit of nonsense. Dos Peublos was the location for a TV series. What was it?

Re: Trivia
I had no idea but, the wife says it was “Love Island”
On leaving Dos Pueblos Andy gave me a 16 mm film that showed the nursery, pack house and general overview of the extensive ranch. Filmed in 1958 (?) and almost 5 minutes long, it is an absolute treasure to have.
The nursery secretary when I was there, Laverne Shulze-Gates, said to me the clip had also been played on TV when it first came out. Mostly as an advert for people to visit the estate.

Re: Trivia
I do have it, carefully archived, and also had it put onto a USB flash drive to enable easy viewing on a computer or TV.
It was titled “An orchid to you” and it was filmed in the 1958 season at Dos Pueblos.
There was also a 30 minute version titled “Cymbidium Wonderland”. John Rowe gave me a copy that Paul Gripp had made onto DVD but it was a worthless, jumpy, cheap transfer of the film. The original would still be a good thing to get if possible. Andy had a copy but, I think there has been too many relocations for him to have bothered carting it around ?.
