More AOS pathetic judging.....

Post by MrCym »

Resigning from AOS judging was one of the smartest moves I've ever made. I got sick of having to interact with fools and interestingly it was a spat with that poseur Ken Jacobsen which crystallized my intent to resign. He is part of the Pacific Central cabal which has had a reputation for ignorant/dishonest judging for decades now. His hybrids are equally lacking in insight as far as I'm concerned. Ever since he bought a clone of Yai 'Monica' in spike from Bay Breeze and got it awarded, I've had him in my sights.

So I glanced at the October "Orchids" magazine yesterday and several truly atrocious Cym awards stood out. First and worst was an AM/AOS to Cym Candy Floss 'Mayfield'. Good God, this is our hybrid from 1983 and far surpassed today. Awarded at National Capital, the weakest judging center in the Eastern United States. Not content with awarding miserable rubbish from dimwitted Dunkelberger, they have spread their gaze and awarded a seriously superseded Standard Cym! We saw a Candy Floss hybrid granted an award in New Zealand in 1999 and it was 14.0 cm in diameter. Enough said!

Pacific Central is also responsible for a miserable green standard Cym Ovens Valley being awarded HCC/AOS! This hybrid between Valley Zenith and Green Glass was awarded once in Australia in 1992. Over 30 years later it is barely pot plant material. Ridiculous.

For the trifecta, Pacific Central seems obsessed with those vile Cym. erythraeum hybrids. the day I use this ugly species in a hybrid is yet to come. It's even worse when they get awarded and the latest one, Sylvia Darr ' Numero Uno' is as ugly as its predecessors. I recall Pujol exhibiting the worst Cym Bert Ruiter 4n I've ever seen, back at the SFO Spring Show and my real fear is that he probably has it crossed with that Sylvia Darr by now.
