Hey Frex. I have always liked these. Can you give us any more information on the nursery? No-one else seems interested, but I am interested in your post. I know what it feels like when you do a post and there is ...nothing.....I am here for you Frex. If you need to talk anytime, I will be here for you.

Save the image then you can see the whole photo. They seem to be growing in very dark conditions with maybe 90% shade or is it the way the photo has been taken?

Well..... they're old types and recently repotted. I would suggest growing may be a bit optimistic, maybe surviving! I doubt the climate makes Mps. cultivation easy.

I got the full image OK by simple right click > view image. Does look extremely dark to me but it is a hot area, but I thought that such places had heat without seering sun. My Mtps get 40% shade during summer then nothing October - March - but then, it is rainy old UK.

I agree with Mr Easton, they look like they've recently been spilt and potted. We grow them in the subtropics well, but sometimes you have to be careful with variety selection, the more Mps. roezli parentage the better. The new varieties will put 2 spikes per growth with 5 to 7 flowers per spike on a mature well grown plant. One variety we grow is putting 4 spikes on the flask bulb. Overall a very enjoyable genus to grow.

Sorry Mark, I have never heard of him. The only person growing quality modern Mps. in Australia is Sam Cowie as far as I know and he only sells wholesale. The genus is greatly neglected by hobbyists. One of the Forum members suggested that these plants may be the remnants of that wanker Stephen Monkhouse's place in Bali??
